I am trying out for my 8th grade cheer squad. Does anyone have any ideas on how to prepare?

  1. The first thing you need to do is stretch a lot and don't tax yourself too much.

Drink a lot of water but not too much, because you don't want to vomit in front of the cheerleaders!

Also, just remember, be confident, because the worst thing that can happen is that you don't make the team and that's not the end of the world is it?

    Good luck!

    stunting

flyer (if ur short and skinny always on the top of a pyramid)

base (if u will be able to pick up a flyer, need to be strong)

back spot ( holds the flyers legs and keeps the flyer balanced)

front spot (in very rare stunts)

here are some videos of me & my cheer team stuntinghttp://youtube.com/watch?v=q6uM4cCF1FQ&f...

if ur a flyer like i am u may be really scared but u have to remember ur bases will always try to save u. Im not sure how old you are so i will show u some easier beginner stunts.

I hope u make the team. and dont listen to any1 else about 2 weeks not being enough time. If u could at least get stunting and tumbling down u may make it and if u get all this persfect u will make it 99.99%. Best of luck to u. Hope i helped

  4. Yes! First, make sure you know what you will be doing at the actual tryout. More than likely you will be doing a cheer, jumping, and tumbling. Coaches and judges also consider attitudes throughout the whole process when making decision.

Cheer:  Motions must be perfect. You will stand out if you have clean tight motions. Look up cheer videos of team with nice motions. See how strong, clean, and crisp they are. You will stand out to judges or coaches. Also, make sure your voice is nice and strong and not sing-songy.

Jump: In order to have good jumps you must have strong abs and strong leg muscles. Flexibility helps too! If your jumps aren't very high, make sure you are landing with you feet together. This will at least make the jump look clean.

Tumbling: Use any tumbling you have to help you. If you don't have any, make sure you do NOT try anything for the first time. Coaches and judges don't like that.

Good luck and remember to stay positive the entire process!!
