The American or English cheese-cake has no cheese in it so why is it called that? On the other hand there is the Mediterranean cheese-cake which DOES have cheese in it but it's a pie and not a cake. Why the misnomers?

  1. It's pepper jack cheese but they don't consider it to be real.

  2. American cheesecake always has cheese in it, usually cream cheese but sometimes ricotta or mascarpone.

I'm not familiar with the "Mediterranean cheese-cake' that you say is a pie but not a cake. In America there are many different types of things that are called "cakes", but if they don't bake it in a pie pan, it's not a pie.

I think this is just a misunderstanding of recipes and a mistranslation.

  3. Well, my cheesecake has cream cheese in it, but not American cheese or Provolone.  As for the cake part, I'd like a bit of cake in my cheese, but I don't see any.  Maybe someone else can explain part two, but the cheesecake I eat definitely has cheese in it. I'm lactose intolerant and will be very sorry if I don't take my little pills before eating it, so that's proof that we're a cheesed up bunch!

  4. Lol...your messed up Man. Are you just saying there a bunch of chesse and no Pie base holding it, because if the pie base is holding it then guess wat dipshit ITS A CAKE.
