Cheik Tiote, the Newcastle United midfielder, has revealed he spoke to Ivory Coast teammates http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 in the English Premier League.
The Ivorian missed seven matches for the Magpies while on duty for his country in the African Cup of Nations, which Ivory Coast failed to claim as they lost in the final to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Zambia-c3043. According to Tiote he spoke to the Chelsea duo about his side finishing above
them at the end of the season.
Tiote believed the current Newcastle United side had what it took to secure a UEFA Champions League qualification spot. The Magpies are currently at sixth position on the Premier League table, just three points behind fifth place Chelsea.
There is no doubt the Blues have been struggling recently and can easily be toppled over if they fail to get a decent result against Bolton Wanderers on Saturday.
Tiote said in an interview:
“We discussed it. I told Salomon we'll finish fourth, and Chelsea will finish seventh and he said 'ok then, we'll see'.
I suppose it shows the confidence I have in our team that I said it to him. If we keep working hard, everything's possible and we can go for fourth. I think we've got a good chance.”
The Magpies midfielder was confident in his side’s ability to overthrow the London sides; Chelsea and Arsenal from their positions on the Premier League table. He revealed he was hoping Newcastle United would keep playing the way they had been to ensure
a top four finish at the end of the term.
He revealed:
“We're a point behind Chelsea and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 and we have everyone back in the squad, Demba's back and if we keep playing like we can I think we can stay in the top four.
This team isn't just about two or three players; it's about the whole squad.”
During Tiote’s absence, Newcastle United lost twice to Fulham and Tottenham Hotspur but secured wins in the rest of their fixtures. They now face Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday an the Sports Direct Arena and will be aiming for a win against the struggling
side.
