  1. My friend used to live in Witham, just outside Chelmsford. It was quite nice and rural, good links to London and there were plenty of facilities.

  2. Postcode is CM2.

Hill Road is near the town centre so it is easy enough to walk into town.  The nearest supermarket is (currently) Tesco, 3-4 minutes drive away, but I believe it is going to close following the expansion of another Tesco on the other side of town.  There used to be a corner shop a few streets away - still might be for all I know.

Hill Road is not in pretty countryside.  It is quite near the prison in one direction and an old industrial estate in the other direction.  There is a nearby primary school with a modest reputation.  Parking is a real problem, despite the residents parking permit scheme.  There is a mix of house types - red brick mostly dating back to the earlier part of the last century.  Some are a good size.  All that I have seen have good sized gardens.  Traffic calming on adjacent roads might damage car steering and suspension.  The nearby site of the disused gas works is about to be redeveloped to provide yet more 'lego-land' housing.

Can I be brutally honest and say that, although I have relatives who have lived in Hill Road, I would not choose to live there myself.  Access is difficult, parking is more than difficult and the area is unattractive and dated.  That is no criticism of the people who live in Hill Road .... not that you will ever meet them because it is not that sort of road.

  3. believe you will get the iformation you are seeking here, good luck.
