Chelse Gillett wins 400m freestyle title: Australia State Teams Age Group SC Championships
Day one of the 2011 Australia State Teams Age Group Short Course Championships began in impressive fashion in Canberra, Australia, on Saturday, September 17. The session of the competition conducted the Girls 13-14 years old 400m freestyle and Boy’s 14-15
years old 400m freestyle final events.
Initially, Chelse Gillett of Queensland came out strongly and won the Girls 13-14 years old 400m freestyle title on the podium by posting a winning time of 4 minutes and 15.24 seconds. In the corresponding race, Chelse Gubecka of Queensland earned silver
in a time of 4 minutes and 15.67 seconds, while Meg Bailey of New South Wales snagged bronze in a time of 4 minutes and 18.48 seconds.
Amy Forrester of Queensland finished fourth with an impressive mark of 4 minutes and 22.18 seconds, while Meg Parry of Victoria settled fifth in a time of 4 minutes and 23.98 seconds. Kate Laidlaw of Victoria wound up sixth in a time of 4 minutes and 25.68
seconds, whereas, Michaela Hokin of New South Wales earned seventh spot with a mark of 4 minutes and 26.32 seconds.
Moreover, Emil Camenzuli of Victory was placed eighth in a time of 4 minutes and 28.98 seconds. Grace Hull of Western Australia wound up ninth with a mark of 4 minutes and 29.79 seconds, while Micaela Habib earned tenth position in a time of 4 minutes and
30.59 seconds.
On the other hand, the Boy’s 14-15 years old 400m freestyle crown was snagged by Mack Horton of Victory with a victorious mark of 3 minutes and 55.72 seconds. Meanwhile, Ryan Leonard of New South Wales was placed second in a time of 4 minutes and 03.30 seconds,
and Jake Hodgetts of New South Wales earned third place honours with a decisive mark of 4 minutes and 04.34 seconds.
In the corresponding swim, Ethan Own of South Australia finished fourth with a mark of 4 minutes and 05.08 seconds and Damian Fyfe of Western Australia earned fifth positon in a time of 4 minutes and 05.11 seconds. Jacob Hansford of New South Wales settled
sixth in 4 minutes and 05.40 seconds, while Mithchell Adams of Queensland finished seventh in a time of 4 minutes and 06.12 seconds
Alex Regnaud of Western Australia earned eight place honours with an impressive mark of 4 minutes and 06.68 seconds. Moreover, Mitch Phillips of Queensland settled ninth in a time of 4 minutes and 08.12 seconds and Douglas Oliver of Queensland was placed
tenth in 4 minutes and 08.94 seconds.
The arena gave a huge ovation to all contestants of the meet due to their spotless swims and the victorious were honoured with medals after the session’s completion.
