Champions League winners Chelsea are reportedly set to battle it out with Napoli for FC Porto full-back http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Álvaro-Pereira-c5297, who could snub both sides to head to Tottenham Hotspur.
The 26-year-old was initially linked with a move to Stamford Bridge when former FC Porto manager Andre Villas-Boas took charge of the club last summer. However, after a string of poor performances the Portuguese manager was sacked.
In his place, the former assistant manager http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roberto-c31294 Di Matteo was made the caretaker manager and now permanent manager. He seems to have different ideas about which players to bring in, but he seems to have retained his interest in Pereira.
After winning both the FA Cup and the Champions League last season, Chelsea are desperate to further strengthen their squad in the summer transfer window. They have already brought in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Marko-Marin-c24198, but lack in the defensive department.
Even though the move to Chelsea did not go through and Pereira signed a new long-term contract with the Portuguese side, the wingback claimed a move away could still go through if the right offer was made for him by a top European side.

international if the Spurs step in.
The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Hulk-c16436, Villas-Boas is eyeing Pereira as a possible signing to bring to White Hart Lane this
summer.
Chelsea will have to pull some strings and hope the bid they make is the highest if they wish to secure the services of Pereira. They will be somewhat desperate to land a decent defender, especially after the departure of Jose Bosingwa.
Pereira joined FC Porto in the summer of 2009 for a fee of 4.5 million Euros on a long term deal. He has made 72 appearances in the League and has found the back of the net twice.
