Chelsea's Benayoun believes they can win Champions League if they beat Manchester United: EPL News
The Israeli international and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Yossi-Benayoun-c37520, believes that they will be on the winning podium of the Champions League if they are able to make a historic comeback to beat the Manchester United in the second-leg of the quarter-final.
Chelsea will have a one-goal deficit to overturn when they will travel to Old Trafford on Tuesday to take on their arch-rivals in the last-8 stage match of the Champions League.
The 30-year-old Chelsea mid-fielder, Benayoun believes that the Men in Red is their biggest threat as he said, “I'm sure that, if we beat United, we will go to the end and win the trophy. It is our final on Tuesday.”
Carlo Ancelotti's Chelsea are desperate to mark their name on the European Cup silverware after they found their way out in the Carling Cup, FA Cup and their hope of winning the English Premier League is quite slim as well. It was Manchester United
who got the better off Chelsea the other night on Wednesday, when they successfully ended the nine years of losing streak at Stamford Bridge and defeated the Blues by a marginal 1-0 score with the help of Wayne Rooney’s brilliant goal.
The former West Ham United and Liverpool player, Benayoun, is adamant of the fact that they must make a history on Tuesday, as the Red Devils have not been defeated in the second tie of UEFA Champions league after winning their first-leg match away
from their home soil.
The mid-fielder said “I think we have the belief we can do it despite losing 1-0 at home. We can win there.”
The Israeli fire-power, Benayoun is optimistic that they will qualify for the next season’s European Cup. Chelsea, currently are five points ahead of the Tottenham Hotspur, which gives them a comfortable third spot in the current English Premier League
standings.
He added, “It's most likely from here we will finish in the top three or four and be in the Champions League next season. That's almost done. We have to give everything and try our best.”
The Israeli has been a key figure for the Blues ever since he has become the part of Chelsea on 3 July, 2010 by completing a successful transfer from Liverpool for £5.5 million. Benayoun, who was struggling with the Achilles injury for the past six
months, has made a successful comeback on Saturday against the Wigan Athletic, where he partnered with the misfiring, Fernando Torres.
Benayoun put his full belief in the Spaniard, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fernando-Torres-c13707, and believes that no one can underestimate the talent that Torres posses in his account. Torres, who made nine appearances for Chelsea has been unable to find the back of the net ever since
he has joined the Blues during the January transfer season for a record breaking £50 million amount from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809.
