Chelsea's midfielder, Yossi Benayoun, believes his side can win the Champions League by beating Manchester United
Chelsea playmaker, Yossi Benayoun, believes that his side can go all the way to lift the UEFA Champions League trophy if they manage to defeat Manchester United in the second leg of the European quarter-final at Old Trafford.
The Israeli midfielder claimed that it is almost certain that Chelsea will finish in the top four of the Barclays Premier League by the end of the season but Carlo Ancelotti’s men’s main aim is to win a piece of silverware in the ongoing 2010-11 season.
He said, “Everyone knows – the manager, the players – that we are playing to save our season. It is likely we’ll finish in the Premier League’s top four and be in next season’s Champions League. The thing left is to try to win a trophy and the only one we
can win is the Champions League”.
“I’m sure if we beat United we’ll go to the end and win the trophy. They are a big team with a great manager but we have belief we can do it, despite losing at home”, added the Israeli international.
Chelsea is now trailing by one goal against Manchester United after suffering a defeat in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League at Stamford Bridge. Benayoun feels that there is still much to play and is confident that Chelsea has what it takes to overcome
Manchester United in the second leg.
Carlo Ancelotti’s men must make history in order to qualify for the next round of the UEFA Champions League as they would have to emerge victors at Old Trafford- a venue where Manchester United have yet to suffer a defeat in the ongoing 2010-11 season.
However, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Yossi-Benayoun-c37520 feels that the Blues can emulate their previous season’s performance.
Chelsea will become the third club in the history of the UEFA Champions League to win the tie after losing the home leg, only if they beat Manchester United at Old Trafford.
