Chelsea's target and Santos striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Neymar-c27639 focused on the 2011 Copa America
Long time http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 target, Neymar recently hinted that he could not be signing with English Premier League defending champions this summer after all. The 19-year-old Brazilian has been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge since last summer but chose to remain
at current side Santos.
Since then, Neymar has been linked with a host of clubs, including La Liga giants Real Madrid and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38605. Other Premier League sides such as Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur have also been keeping a watch on him.
He has recently also been linked with a move to the Serie A, with the likes of Juventus, Inter Milan and AC Milan revealing their interest. However, the Brazilian youngster insisted he had not decided on his future and was focusing on the upcoming Copa America.
Neymar said while speaking to reporters, “Serie A? I don't know what the future holds for me. It's in the hands of God. I really don't know what will happen in June. I just want to focus on the upcoming Copa America. I have to do my utmost to earn myself
a spot in the squad.”
Neymar has been brilliant for club and country, recently making his mark on the Brazil national team. In their last three fixtures Neymar has gone on to score three goals. Despite being only 19 years old, he seems to have earned himself a permanent place
in the squad under coach Mano Menezes.
Neymar started off with the Brazil under-17 national side and impressed at the under-17 2009 World Cup which almost earned him a trip to the 2010 World Cup. However, according to then Brazil manager Dunga, Neymar was too young and was therefore left out.
Since then he has been a regular feature for the Brazil senior squad and it is highly unlikely that he won’t be selected for the Copa America. The tournament is being held in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Argentina-c2841 and will begin in the summer, July 1 to July 24.
Brazil have been drawn in Group B, along with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Venezuela-c3039. They will face Venezuela before taking on Paraguay and Ecuador and even though the defending champions are obvious favorites to retain the trophy, they will not be taking any
chances.
Since beginning his senior career with Santos, Neymar has been a regular with the Brazil outfit. He has gone on to make a total of 120 appearances in all competitions and has scored 61 goals, making him a very valuable player for Santos.
The 19-year-old Brazil striker continued, “I'm very happy that my work is appreciated. I love to play together with the lads at Santos and we'd love to continue playing together. It doesn't just depend on what we want though.”
With the amount of interest in the youngster, it is probable he will be facing a Santos exit at the end of this campaign. So far Chelsea are the only side who are willing to pay as much as £30 million for the talented striker.
