Chelsea Manager Carlo Ancelotti defends Fernando Torres
English Premier League (EPL) team Chelsea are in deep waters as the Blues are lying in the fifth spot, two points behind Tottenham Hotspur and are struggling for a place in the top four. Chelsea are the current Premier League and FA Cup title defenders.
Chelsea Manager Carlo Ancelotti has been forced to break his silence as the home fans have started to raise eyebrows over the multimillion pound signing of former Liverpool striker Fernando Torres.
Since the arrival of the Spanish international, the Blues have not managed to score a single goal on home or away fixtures. Torres, has so far, not settled at Stamford Bridge, neither has jelled in properly with the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Nicolas-Anelka-c27786.
Ancelotti defended the Spaniard, saying that he should be given some time to settle down at the club. He said once El Nino got used to the Blues’ style of play, there was no reason why he would fail to score. “He needs to have time, but playing, to improve
his combination with the other players,” said the Chelsea manager.
England and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Frank-Lampard-c14097 has also expressed concern over his team’s poor form and wants them to improve quickly as time is running out for the Blues. Lampard said there wouldn’t be anything more disastrous than if his team failed to be
part of the top four and consequently, the UEFA Champions League.
When Ancelotti signed Torres, he was excited and believed the Spaniard could get the team back on track, but his expectations have yet to be fulfilled.
The £50 million man was the biggest flop in his debut game for the Blues against his former club http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 at Stamford Bridge and was taken off in the 66th minute. The home team lost the game 1-0. The Spaniard was once again tried in the starting eleven
at the expense of Drogba against Fulham at Craven Cottage, but he could not deliver again as Chelsea failed to score for the second consecutive time in the EPL. The game against the Cottagers ended in a draw.
Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich landed in the striker to add venom to his already commendable strike force, but the results have so far, not been to the liking of the club officials and the fans.
The underperforming Spaniard has put his manager under a huge pressure and now Ancelotti’s focus should be to win the Champions League Crown and regain some respect amongst the Blue’s fans. The failure to do so might put the Italian’s job under the scanner.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fernando-Torres-c13707 will have to start performing very soon now as the Spaniard is also coming under immense pressure after being involved in the heaviest-ever signing during the recently-concluded January transfer window.
