Chelsea Manager Carlo Ancelotti hints at move to Serie A club Roma
Chelsea Manager Carlo Ancelotti has admitted that coaching former club Roma remains at top of his wish list. The under-fire Chelsea manager is thought to be one of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/The-Strongest-c40725 contenders to take up the role of Roma’s coach from Vincenzo Montella next summer.
Montella, the 36-year-old former striker, recently got promoted to the managerial role, but only temporarily, after Claudio Ranieri stepped down. Ranieri was under immense pressure to resign after receiving a shocking 4-3 defeat from Genoa. The interim replacement decision of Montella has come within 24 hours of Claudio Ranieri’s resignation.
Former Inter Milan coach Ancelotti said, “It’s my dream [to join Roma] and I've always said this, but for the moment it remains so.” However, he added, “I feel good here [at Chelsea].”
Football critics believe that the temporary replacement of Montella means that the Serie A outfit Roma is seriously planning to bring the 51-year-old Ancelotti to Stadio Olimpico next summer.
Carlo Ancelotti has been immensely successful during his term at Stamford Bridge since 2009. During his time, Chelsea reached the winning podium and lifted the 2009-10 Barclay’s English Premier League title.
Ancelotti spent nearly a decade at Stadio Olimpico as a player and now may be seen again in Italy representing Giallorossi. The recent slump in the Blues’ position might be the biggest reason for his move to Roma.
Montella was already working with Roma as the youth-team coach before he was appointed by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roma-c31603 and given a new managerial role. Montella denied rumours that suggested he was working as a caretaker coach. Commenting on Ancelotti’s possible return, Montella said, “I’m not bothered that people are talking about Ancelotti, who is someone I have a lot of respect for.” He added, “I accepted the job with enthusiasm because it’s a lucky thing to be coach of Roma.”
The 51-year-old Ancelotti has been under immense pressure to hang up his boots from the coaching role for the Blues after the club performed badly in almost all ongoing campaigns. The UEFA Champions league is one trophy which is still in his team’s reach. The English Premier League title looks a distant challenge to accomplish as Chelsea are sitting fifth on the league table which means they are still 12 points behind the current toppers – Manchester United.
Carlo Ancelotti became the third Italian to coach http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 after Claudio Ranieri and Gianluca Vialli. He joined Chelsea on a three-year contract for £9 million, which also made him the highest earning manager on the planet.
