Chelsea Midfielder John Obi Mikel believes hard work pays off

Premier league Champions midfielder John Obi Mikel claims that his hard work has finally paid dividends, as his side look to defend the title. Chelsea have scored six times each in their opening two fixtures and currently look unstoppable.
The Champions thrashed newly promoted West Bromwich Albion at Stamford Bridge, while thwarting Wigan Athletic away. Ancelotti’s men next host Stoke City, whom they humiliated 7-0 in April to storm towards their first title in three years. Mikel had to sit out from the 2010 FIFA World Cup owing to his knee injury, denying him a chance to help Nigeria progress through. The youngster has now fully recovered and looks forward to playing for Chelsea regularly and helping them retain the title.
"Towards the end of last season before I was injured I was in good shape and playing almost every week. Then I got injured, had surgery and did my rehab,” claimed the Nigerian midfielder while talking to the club’s official site. The player added that he just put his head down and knew he had to work twice as hard as his team mates to recover in time for the start of the new season. Mikel believed that all the hard work seems to be paying off now and therefore doesn’t want to stop. The midfielder claimed that he just wanted to keep on going and give his all both on and off the field. Mikel believes that giving his all in training would help him improve his game and make more first team appearances.
The midfielder claimed that if someone is to ask his team mates about his work rate, they would confirm that he works as hard as, or even harder than anyone else there. Obi Mikel therefore stated that that was his motivation and that is exactly what he wants to continue doing. Chelsea would be expecting to win their third game in a row to stay on the top of the league and confidence is just booming in the dressing room.
The midfielder stated that he and his team mates enjoyed good synergy, have good understanding between each other and know what to do when. The midfielder claimed that such a strategy was working out for the team and that is exactly what the coach expects. The player joked that they know they are not going to score six times in each match and would still be happy if they score one and secure all three points. The Midfielder added that that is exactly what they want but scoring so many goals at the moment but it is enjoyable to be a part of a side who scores at will and hopes such a streak to be continues
Mikel Obi’s side Chelsea got a favourable draw in the Champions League, when they drew against Marseille, Spartak Moscow, MSK Zilina in Group F. Striker Didier Drogba would be reunited with his former club Marseille, while Didier Deschamps, the coach of the French side, would be returning to Stamford Bridge having played there in his senior career.
Chelsea wing forward Florent Malouda claims that Chelsea aims to win the competition, having reaching the 2008 final, only loosing the title to Manchester United in Moscow. The winger stated that he is now 30 and there are only a few years left in his career. That is why he would want to win everything in whatever time he has left. The Frenchman labeled Chelsea to be the best side in Europe currently and their aim is to lift the UEFA Champions league. Malouda claimed that he was delighted to lift the premier league trophy last season and wants to keep it at the club for long. The winger ended the statement claiming that when you’re at such a club, winning is everything.
