Chelsea after left-back but Arsène Wenger avoids Barcelona

Chelsea are targeting Benfica left-back Fabio Coentrao as a possible replacement for Ashley Cole, who could be departing to Real Madrid. Coentrao,22, featured for Portugal at the World Cup.

 
Also, Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti admits there is a small chance of signing Kaká from Real Madrid as well, but a move is unlikely to materialise.

 
Manchester City are still trying to sign Wolfsburg’s Edin Dzeko, but they might be put off by the German side’s asking price of £34million. Manchester City might be able to negotiate a deal that could see Roque Santa Cruz heading the other way. An attempt to sign goalkeeper Joe Hart will be rejected by City from Fulham as they look to replace the departing Mark Schwarzer.

 
Former Everton player Dan Gosling looks set to join newly-promoted Newcastle United. Gosling walked out of Everton last week, and the club are looking to secure a £4million compensation deal.

Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger has rejected the chance to meet Barcelona in South Africa over the possibility of the Catalan giants signing Arsenal skipper Cesc Fabrégas. A first bid of around £29million has already been rejected, with Arsenal holding firm onto their prized asset, demanding at least a fee near to the one that Real Madrid paid for Cristiano Ronaldo in 2009.

 
Maynor Figueroa could make a £7million move from Wigan Athletic to Stoke City. However, Stoke face stiff competition from Liverpool to sign the Honduran left-back.

 
Striker Loic Remy is still wanted by West Ham United, but the Hammers will apparently have to offer at least £12million to land the Ligue 1 star, while Papa Bouba Diop could seal a £3.5million deal to AEK Athens.
