Chelsea and Arsenal stronger than Manchester City: Paul Scholes
Manchester United legendary midfielder http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Paul-Scholes-c29394 has claimed that Manchester City are not title rivals as they have to win something to prove their credentials.
United will host Roberto Mancini’s Manchester City at Old Trafford for the second Manchester derby of the season on Saturday. Sir Alex Ferguson’s men are currently leading the table and are five points ahead of their city rivals, with one match in hand as
well.
The Citizens have been considered as one of the favourites to claim the title since the start of the 2010-11 season. Roberto Mancini’s men even managed to lead the table during the season once but failed to retain their top spot. However, the Eastlands outfit
cannot be ruled out of the title race, even though their manager has publicly claimed that their utmost aim is to qualify for the UEFA Champions League.
Manchester United are favourites to win their record 19th Premier League title in the season which will take them above http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 in the overall title race. Sir Alex Ferguson’s team had been unbeaten in the season until the last match when they
suffered their first defeat against Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux.
Paul Scholes, who is expected to start against Manchester City, has claimed that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 are stronger title contenders than Man City.
“They are definitely getting closer. Whether they are alongside Chelsea and Arsenal yet I am not sure. They would probably have to win something to become main rivals. But I am sure this year they will be fighting for it and the same will be true in years
to come with more improvement.” said Scholes.
Sir Alex Ferguson also claimed earlier that Manchester United’s title quest would be decided in the derby. Without a doubt, this Manchester derby will not only decide local pride but will also open the title race.
Scholes said, “It is more than local pride now. We are both going for trophies and we are both main rivals for trophies. Even then it didn't necessarily mean we were going to win, as results proved. And they have better quality players now, which just makes
matches against City even more interesting.”
If Manchester United manage to get all three points at Old Trafford against Manchester City, it will take them eight points above their city rivals.
However, if Sir Alex Ferguson’s men crash out against Man City on Saturday, then Roberto Mancini’s men would be within a touching distance of two points from their rivals.
