Chelsea and Manchester City target Hulk had an €80 million bid rejected by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Porto-c39186, says agent
FC Porto have reportedly rejected an €80 million offer from an unknown club for their star player http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Hulk-c16436, who is believed to be on the radar of Manchester City and Chelsea.
The Dragons have already stated that while every member of their squad is replaceable, there is no one quite like Hulk and he will most definitely not be sold. Their stance is quite justified keeping in mind player’s rise, which has been nothing less than
meteoric.
From playing in the lower Japanese division to being touted as one of the hottest properties in Europe, Hulk has come a long way to success. The 24-year-old further enhanced his glowing reputation after he had his most prolific season in front of goal last
term. Making 51 appearances, the striker netted a jaw dropping 36 goals while also assisting his teammates 21 times.
His goalscoring feats sky-rocketed his market value and in order to secure the future of their prized asset, the Estadio do Dragao officials convinced him to sign a new contract at the helm, with a buyout clause of a whopping €100 million.
The ploy was that his hefty price-tag would ward off any potential suitors but it seems that the outrageous amount is still within the reach of Europe’s elite.
Manchester City, undoubtedly the richest club in world football, backed by the billions of their Arab owners had lodged their interest in the Brazilian alongside their English Premier League rivals, Chelsea. Although both the clubs were reportedly ready
to break the bank to land their man, speculation had cooled off in recent weeks as the teams sniff around for other options.
However, the media has again linked Hulk to a move to either Stamford Bridge or the City of Manchester stadium following the comments made by his agent, Teodoro http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fonseca-c13888.
"I would be lying if I said there hadn't been offers for the signing of Hulk. I believe the highest was for €80m, but FC Porto didn't even want to negotiate."
While the representative was eager to acknowledge the demand for his client in the market, he refused to name the club which had tabled the rejected proposal.
"That I can't reveal, but it wouldn't be difficult to guess because there are three or four clubs that are in conditions to pay those figures for a player," Fonseca was quoted as saying.
Although names of the teams are likely to never be revealed, it can be said that only a handful of clubs boast the financial muscle to muster such an offer, and out of those only Manchester City and Chelsea were interested in signing Hulk.
Despite having their current bid rejected, the unnamed clubs can try to entice Porto once again as there is still some time to go until the end of the transfer window.
