Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea look set to battle it out for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Internacional-c39573’s Brazilian playmaker Oscar. The player has long been linked with Spurs, but it seems like Chelsea are now the favourites to land his signatures having entered the fray.
The Brazilian had previously talked about a link with Tottenham about a week ago, revealing that he was aware of interest by the North London Club. However, he was quick to play down any speculation linking him with an exit from his current club and homeland.
The young midfielder has been included in Brazil’s Olympic squad for the London games that are due to start this month. His performances for Internacional have attracted the interest of many top clubs across Europe.
Tottenham were thought to be leading the chase to sign the player as new boss Andre Villas-Boas identified Oscar as a primary transfer target in his bid to replace http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Luka-Modric-c22857, who is expected to depart from White Hart Lane this summer.
Modric’s departure will leave a gaping hole in the Spurs midfield and Oscar is seen as the ideal replacement for the Croatian. Oscar’s ability to sit in the middle of the park and orchestrate attacks is seen as a top attribute by Villas-Boas, who is very
keen on the young hot-shot.
However, it seems that his former club Chelsea have now taken the lead by launching a £19.8 million for Oscar.
Oscar’s representatives have confirmed that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 have made an offer for the 20-year old, but have also revealed that no agreement has been reached about the proposed transfer yet.
One of Oscar’s primary agents spoke to a Brazilian newspaper and said:
"Chelsea did offer 25 million Euros, but there is still no agreement between the clubs, that will probably happen within the next days."
"http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 to finalise the remaining details," he said.
"Tottenham also made an offer, but he should accept Chelsea's offer as there is more exposure there."
Meanwhile, Tottenham midfielder Sandro, also a Brazilian, has urged his club to be quick in signing Oscar.
"I'm cheering for him to sign [for Tottenham]. I didn't tell them about him, because they know about http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Oscar-c28720," Sandro told
a magazine.
"The club plans to grow and needs players like him. They asked me about Oscar and I said: 'Do not waste time, or another club will take him.”
