Chelsea and Villarreal tracking Olympique de Marseille midfielder Lucho Gonzalez – Ligue 1 news
According to reports from French magazine La Provence, Ligue 1 giants, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-de-Marseille-c40127 midfielder Lucho Gonzalez is attracting interest from English Premier League giants Chelsea and La Liga side Villarreal.

La Provence now claims that the midfielder’s departure from the Rhone club is still likely as English side http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 and Spanish outfit Villarreal are interested in the experienced midfielder. Though Les Phoceens coach Didier Deschamps refused to accept that
the midfielder will leave the club, it is very likely that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 by the end of this summer’s transfer window.
Serie A side AS http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roma-c31603, Premier League outfits, Aston Villa and Newcastle United and Turkish giants Fenerbahce are also linked with a move for the player. However, reports in French daily Le Parisien indicate that Chelsea and Villarreal are in pole position
to land the midfielder.
Olympique de Marseille value the player at 12.8 million Euros, a price that many clubs find too steep for a player who is reaching the last few years of his playing career. However, Chelsea are reportedly willing to meet Marseille’s valuation while Villarreal
are also considering making a bid for the South American.
Furthermore, Gonzalez might find it hard to cement a regular starting spot at Marseille next season after Les Phoceens signed http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alou-Diarra-c5259 from Bordeaux.
El Comandante signed for Marseille in the summer of 2009 from Portuguese giants FC Porto for a fee believed to be in the region of 18 million Euros. Since his arrival at the Rhone district club, Gonzalez has been an integral part of the side.
However, with Marseille looking to ease the burden on the club’s payroll, Lucho Gonzalez might be forced out of the club if a good offer arrives. With competition for places expected to be tough at Marseille next season, Lucho Gonzalez might also consider
leaving the club this summer in order to go to a club where he can play more regularly.
