Chelsea are still in the title race: Fernando Torres
The new Chelsea signing and former Liverpool player http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fernando-Torres-c13707 has claimed that the Blues are still in the title race despite suffering a shock home defeat against Liverpool.
Fernando Torres, who was signed by Chelsea recently for a British record fee of 50 million pounds, made his Blues’ debut against his former club, Liverpool. The Spanish striker failed to make an impact on his first-ever match for the Blues and was clearly
not in tandem with his new teammates.
‘El Nino’ was called off after a disappointing hour on the pitch, as Carlo Ancelotti’s men failed to equalise http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809’s first goal in seven years at Stamford Bridge.
Torres, who scored twice against Chelsea while playing for Liverpool at Anfield in the first half of the season, praised the Reds performance in the match and claimed that Kenny Dalglish’s men surprised the Blues with a different tactical approach.
“It was very difficult; Liverpool played a good game, with three at the back. We were not expecting that and maybe they took advantage. I think the fair result was the draw, it was unfair to lose that game, but now we are looking forwards to the next game
and will keep fighting until the end. There are a lot of points still to play [for],” said Torres.
However, the Spanish striker also thanked http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 fans for showing extraordinary support to him and insisted that it was one of the best moments he had ever experienced.
Torres added, “Obviously everyone wants to win, especially if it is their first game at home, but I will still have very good memories about my reception here and want to thank all of the Chelsea fans for that nice reception. The result was not the best,
but we have to keep going and fighting until the end.”
It was Chelsea’s seventh defeat of the season and it seems like that the Blues are well out of the title race, however, Torres feels that Chelsea are still in the hunt as they have to play Manchester United twice.
