Chelsea beat Ipswich 7-0 in FA Cup

Defending Champions of FA Cup, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 started the defence of their title in spectacular fashion with a resounding 7-0 hammering for Ipswich and will now take on Everton in 4th round.

Saloman Kalou was the man who got Chelsea going; youngster http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Frank-Lampard-c14097’s kick was headed in for an own goal for the 3rd, Nikolas Anelka made use of some sluggish defence to make it 4, Sturridge
got his 2nd and 5th for Chelsea and Lampard to 2 late goals to complete an emphatic win which Chelsea needed for more than one reason.

Chelsea started the season in top gear and dominated the Premier League, have suffered a dreadful slump and now linger in the 5th spot and 9 points behind league leaders Manchester United. This win would go a long way towards lifting the mood at Stamford
Bridge and would also have given some breathing space to the under pressure manager Carlo Ancelotti.

Chelsea could have hoped to get an easier tie in the 4th round than taking on Everton. But the Blues did beat Everton in last year’s final and from this win would be full of confidence.

Chelsea did not have all of their first team players, but still they were able to put on a show that would certainly send a message to their rivals that they still have that killer instinct. The win would also give them the belief that they can still do
a lot this season if they continue to give it their all.

Their African striker and last year’s golden boot winner http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ashley-Cole-c6809 was also not in the team and there was a touch of youth
blended with experience on the field for Chelsea.

The first half hour of the game saw Chelsea bombard Ipswich with attack after attack but the Championship side continued to show guts and kept the Premier League Champions out. The Ipswich defence was finally breached after 32 minutes when Nikola Anelka
got the ball in the box, courtesy some shaky defence and let one fly the ball was parried by the keeper and Kalou was there to tap it in from 3 feet.

Just a minute later it was 2 nil, Daniel Sturridge who got his 2nd start of the season was buzzing and got a deserved goal. The youngster did well to get on the end of a pass from Jose Bosingwa and cleverly back-heeled it home.

Nikolas Anelka who had been in great goal scoring form at the start of the season had not been able to score one in 10 games. His duck was finally broken when once again Ipswich defence was left sleeping and he got through two defenders before curling one
to the top right corner to make it 4-0.  Before the Anelka goal Ipswich were dealt another demoralising blow when a free kick from Frank Lampard was headed into his own goal by defender Edwards.

As the 2nd half started to progress, Chelsea were in festive mood and were looking to get as many as they could. Sturridge was the next one to score again, the young striker had been quick all night and was not spotted by Ipswich midfield as he made his
way to the edge of their area and received a well weighed ball from Anelka to make his way past centre back and calmly slotted one in the right corner to make it 5-0. It was time for another man on a comeback trail to get his goal scoring boots back and Frank
Lampard  got on the end of a good cross late in the game to head in the 6th, and later let fly form edge of the area to complete a fantastic 7-0 win for Chelsea.
