Chelsea boss, Carlo Ancelotti does not fear for his job at Stamford Bridge
Chelsea boss, Carlo Ancelotti revealed he was confident his job was not under threat if he was unsuccessful in bringing the Blues their first ever Champions League trophy. There have been rumours claiming that Ancelotti’s time at Stamford Bridge has an expiration
date if he fails to win the coveted European Cup in only his second season in charge at http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786.
The Blues go into the match with a 1-0 deficit, having lost the first leg of the quarter-final at Stamford Bridge just a week ago. Manchester United and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wayne-Rooney-c36736 scored to give his side the lead, while the London side was left chasing
for the rest of the game. They had a controversial penalty decision turned down that could have leveled things and made the second leg easier for the Blues.
However, the Italian manager insisted he was not the least bit concerned about losing his job ahead of the crucial second leg of Champions League quarter-final clash against Manchester United. To qualify for the semi-finals of the European competition the
Blues will have to score two or more goals, while maintaining a clean sheet at Old Trafford.
Despite the odds against them, Ancelotti maintained his faith in his side and in the Blues owner, Roman Abramovich. He did not believe the Russian billionaire would sack him, like he had done so many previously. The long list of managers sacked by Abramovich
includes, Claudio Ranieri, Jose Mourinho, Avram Grant, and Luiz Felipe Scolari.
There is a possibility that the former AC Milan manager could end up trophy less this season, with his side in no position to defend their Premier League crown. The Blues are currently at third place in the Premier League table, some 8 points behind league
leaders, Manchester United. They were also eliminated from the cup competitions early on in the season; the European Cup being the only trophy they are in contention for.
Ancelotti said while speaking to reporters, “No, I do not fear this game may decide my future. My future is already clear, because I have another 12 months on my contract, so I don't have a problem about this game. It's not important that I have to speak
with Roman. When I have a contract, everything is OK with him.”
Instead of crumbling to the pressure ahead of a high profiled game, Ancelotti claimed he was excited to face Manchester United in Europe. Ancelotti said he was looking forward to using his tactical ability against Manchester United boss, Sir Alex Ferguson
and bringing out the best in his players in the clash that could make or break their season.
The Italian manager continued, “A lot of times, I played this kind of game with this pressure. But it's not pressure, its excitement. To be involved in this game is fantastic for my job, for my career. So I'm not afraid. I'm not worried about this. I'm
happy to be able to use my ability and skills, in a game like this, to bring out the best in my players.”
