http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Álvaro-Pereira-c5297. The 25-year-old was only linked with a move to Stamford Bridge until Villas-Boas confirmed during a press conference that he was indeed looking to
sign the Uruguayan defender.
Chelsea have reportedly made a bid for the player but with just a week remaining in the transfer window, don’t seem like they have too good of a chance to sign him. Pereira was initially back-up if the Blues were unable to sign Tottenham Hotspur midfielder
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Uruguay-c3035 international has now become a priority.
After various attempts the Blues have been unable to convince Tottenham Hotspur to part ways with their prized midfielder. The 25-year-old Croatian has also expressed his desire to leave White Hart Lane for Chelsea countless times, but has so far not been
allowed to leave.
With time running out, Villas-Boas has decided to track some of his other targets before the transfer window closes. While the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Porto-c39186 manager admitted to making a bid for Pereira, he revealed he was not very confident of acquiring the player.
Villas-Boas said while speaking to reporters:
“I can confirm that we have made a bid for him but we are very far apart in terms of numbers. It's a big, big difference. I am not very confident.”
With the Blues chasing Pereira, it was rumoured they would offload the 31-year-old http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Florent-Malouda-c13838 to make room for the new signing. The Frenchman was linked to a host of sides; with Serie A side Juventus the favourites to secure the French winger on a
loan deal.
However, Villas-Boas confirmed he had no intention of selling Florent Malouda in the current transfer window. The Portuguese manager said Malouda had more than proved himself at Chelsea over the past five seasons.
The Portuguese manager said:
“He is an excellent professional, very driven and determined throughout his career, so we can't let ourselves sell talents of this quality.”
Villas-Boas insisted he did not believe Malouda and the rest of his teammates were “too old”, a criticism the Chelsea squad was subjected to last season. He felt they still had the quality and experience to deliver results.
He continued:
“As you know I have no problems whatsoever with the average age of the squad because I believe in their competence and I believe in Malouda's competence.”
