Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas has revealed he is confident striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fernando-Torres-c13707 will soon return to his goal scoring ways as the anniversary of his move to Stamford Bridge from Liverpool arrives.
It has now been exactly a year since the 27-year-old arrived at http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 on a long term deal for a record breaking fee of 50 million pounds. However, he has been in poor form for the Blues which has earned him severe criticism.
In a year Torres has managed to score just five goals in 43 appearances in all competitions, something which has had him labelled as somewhat of a flop. There were even reports suggesting the new Blues manager Andre Villas-Boas was tired of the underperforming
striker and wanted to sell him.
Rumours revealed that the London club were looking to sell Torres in the January transfer window for much less than they had bought him for. Villas-Boas though, rejected the claims and revealed the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011 international was a part of the club’s long term plans.
He revealed the striker had shown improvement which proved he could start scoring goals any day now. That is true; Torres has been in terrific form in his last few fixtures in the absence of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Didier-Drogba-c11044. While he was undoubtedly the best player on the
pitch, he was unable to find the back of the net.
Villas-Boas said while speaking to reporters:
“I think we are seeing a player growing in terms of form.
Eventually we expect goals from it, and we hope those goals will come back.”
In the clash against Queens Park http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rangers-c40314, Torres managed to impress everyone; making the most runs and providing assists to other attacking players. It is this effort that Villas-Boas believes will ensure Torres rediscovers his goal scoring form sooner rather
than later while still with the Blues.
He continued:
“Fernando has equally one of the most assist totals for other players in the club so he is producing for the others as well.
I think he is confident, to be fair. For the kind of effort he is doing, eventually it will be repaid.”
