http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 boss Andre Villas-Boas admitted he felt his side had not done enough to secure a win and therefore deserved the 1-1 draw against Fulham.
Striker Fernando Torres assisted Juan Mata to score the opening goal for the Blues shortly after the beginning of the second half. However, their celebrations were short lived as Clint Dempsey scored for the away side to award them a much needed equalizer.
Even though the Blues played a highly attacking game after conceding the goal, they were unable to find the back of the net. According to Villas-Boas the Blues were not good enough on the pitch and therefore did not deserve a win.
Villas-Boas said while speaking to reporters:
“Today [Monday] we weren't good enough to get the three points, that was pretty clear.
We created enough chances to try to win the game. We had a good second half, had a lot of good opportunities, but always collided against a brave Fulham defence or against Stockdale, who had a fantastic game.”
The man of the match was undoubtedly http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-c10409 Stockdale, the Fulham goalkeeper, who at points in the game single-handedly prevented the Blues from scoring. Villas-Boas acknowledged the efforts of the Fulham stopper and claimed he had a fantastic game.
As for striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fernando-Torres-c13707, who once again failed to find the back of the net, Villas-Boas was not at all judgemental. In fact, the Portuguese manager showed support for the Spaniard and claimed that he had made an impact on the game.
He did not pay too much attention to the fact that the 50 million pounds striker had failed to find the back of the net in 10 matches now. He claimed that as long as Torres was trying his best, the Blues would be supportive of him and dismissed rumours linking
Torres with a move away.
Villas-Boas continued:
“He worked well for the team, assisted Mata for his goal, and showed the level of commitment he has shown in training.
We don't judge our strikers on the score. What is important is that they make an impact. That is what we expect from them.”
