Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas criticizes Manchester City’s spending policy
New Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas said he felt Manchester City’s transfer policy was “unfair”, as they completed the signing of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sergio-c33030 Aguero for an estimated £35million in the summer transfer window. Aguero joins a long list of stars already at Eastlands,
which makes one wonder where Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini plans to play all the players.
As compared to Manchester City and other clubs who have been highly active in the current transfer window, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 have been relatively quiet. The Blues are not short on funds, since they are being funded by their owner Roman Abramovich, the Russian billionaire;
it seems more of a case of the right players at the right time.
The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mancini-c23323’s reason for his big spending, the attempt at challenging
the regular top four times for the English Premier League crown.
While Manchester City beat the likes of Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool to finish at the third spot in the League table, they fell short behind championships Manchester United and runners-up Chelsea. They did however win the coveted FA Cup to ensure
they did not finish another season trophy less and have set their sights on the Premier League title next season.
Villas-Boas said while speaking to reporters:
“I think it's unfair. I think it's pretty clear that they are building a squad to fight for the title
It's for Mancini to say what his objectives are but my personal perspective is that they are making good signings and that they can threaten for the league.”
Even with Manchester City’s excessive reinforcements, Villas-Boas felt the race for the title would be fairly open. Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool have all been active in the transfer market and having sufficiently strengthened their
squad will be prepared to present the rest of the sides with a tough challenge.
The Portuguese manager continued:
“I think Man United as the title holders will be a reference for everybody but you can see the amount of activity Manchester City have had in the market. It's pretty clear they have a title objective as well.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 are always a threat…”
