After rumours claiming the Blues were looking to sell Fernando Torres in the upcoming transfer window, the Chelsea boss rubbished the reports and insisted the London side were willing to retain the £50 million striker even if it took time to get him to return
to his goal scoring ways.

as he attempts to recover.
Villas-Boas said while speaking to reporters:
“This is a talent that is never in doubt. So we have to be very, very patient and I'm sure that we can turn this around.”
Villas-Boas was determined to do whatever it took to make sure Torres received the necessary first team experience to help him regain his confidence. The Portuguese manager seems to be a firm believer of the saying “class is permanent, form is temporary”,
which is why he has faith in the Spaniard.
He revealed:
“That's one of the prerogatives of the manager, to try to get the best out of everybody.”
According to the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Porto-c39186 manager it was all a question of motivation and self confidence, something Torres was in the process of regaining. He revealed the striker had shown improvement at the beginning of the season and would continue to do so when
given the chance during Didier Drogba’s absence.
Villas-Boas claimed:

It has been Didier's run at the moment but we are pretty sure that Fernando will return strongly again.”
Unlike many other people, Villas-Boas did not compare Torres to Drogba and instead claimed the players were different. It was for this reason he was willing to experiment with the team and observe if they were able to adjust to Torres as the main striker.
He continued:
“Fernando has different things to offer from Didier and requires a different type of game. The team has the ability to adapt to the different circumstances.”
