Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas revealed he was concerned about the fitness of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/John-Terry-c18895, Ramires and David Luiz as the Blues get set to take on Tottenham Hotspur this Thursday.
The Portuguese manager expressed his concern for the availability of the key trio in the upcoming crucial clash against the Spurs, which could very well decide the top four on the Premier League table this season. The match will be tougher for the Blues
since they will be travelling to White Hart Lane in the mid-week clash.
Terry, the 31-year-old Chelsea skipper, sustained a knee injury in the 1-1 draw against Wigan Athletic over the weekend. With no update on his progress as yet, there is a possibility that he could go on to miss the must win clash against Tottenham Hotspur
this Thursday.
However, Villas-Boas did not think the injury was anything serious and was certain the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 captain would be fit to lead his side against their London rivals. He admitted the central defender had picked up a knee injury but had seemed to have made progress
since then.
Villas-Boas said while speaking to reporters:
“John Terry took a painful knock, but he seems OK now. Even if he is limping I think he will be fine for the next game.”
Meanwhile, Terry’s fellow central defender http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-Luiz-c10542 is also expected to make a return for the Tottenham Hotspur clash. Luiz and Ramires both missed the fixture against Wigan Athletic, which is why Villas-Boas is confident they will be able to return against
Tottenham Hotspur.
He continued:
“http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ramires-c30523 should be fine as well. He's progressing and will be able to play, and maybe David Luiz too.”
While the manager admitted the draw against the Latics wasn’t quite what he was hoping for, he was hopeful they wouldn’t let the minor setback affect their future fixtures. Especially for the Tottenham Hotspur clash, Villas-Boas expected his side to approach
the match with confidence.
Villas-Boas revealed:
“We go there with our confidence unaffected.
It's a pity we didn't win at Wigan as it would have given a different perspective to our position in the table, but we've maintained our unbeaten run.”
