Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas not worried about position at Stamford Bridge
Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas revealed he was not worried about his position at the club and revealed that the owner Roman Abramovich had not given him a deadline by which to turn the season around. Despite a decent start, the Blues are going through an
early slump because of which Villas-Boas’ position at the club has come under question.
Villas-Boas confirmed:
“The contract is a three-year contract."
The Portuguese manager however, knows too well that the length of a contract has not stopped Abramovich from cutting the deal short. The Russian billionaire is known to sack managers when the results are not desirable and so far Villas-Boas has not been
able to deliver desirable results.
He revealed:
“Results in football are the key to a manager's sustainability. I have no problem with it. I didn't come here to be failure. I came here to be a success.”
The London side have a list of important fixtures coming up, which could either make or break Villas-Boas’ Chelsea career. After beating Wolverhampton Wanderers this Saturday, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 in the Carling Cup quarter finals
and then http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Valencia-c40863 in the UEFA Champions’ League Group E fixture the Tuesday after next.
Villas-Boas revealed the burden of expectations but at the same time revealed confidence in his side. He was confident they could turn things around and return to winning ways after a poor string of results which saw them lose to Queens Park http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429
and Liverpool in the Premier League.
Villas-Boas admitted:
“It's a project of high expectations (in terms of results) and mine at the moment are negative. There is no running away from that.
But that doesn't mean that the project won't continue or that we don't have the talent to turn things around.”
The 34-year-old former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Porto-c39186 boss was somewhat annoyed at comparisons to former boss Carlo Ancelotti, who failed to win silverware in his second season at the club. He denied that the club were going through a mini slump and confirmed that they would
soon be winning games.
The Portuguese manager added:
"The philosophy and the way we are set out is not in question, whatsoever.”
He continued:
“That doesn't mean we're going to keep losing for three months.”
