Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas offers full backing to skipper John Terry after accusations of racial slur against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Anton-Ferdinand-c6260 as FA launches investigation
The FA confirmed that they had launched an investigation regarding allegations that Chelsea skipper http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/John-Terry-c18895 had made racist remarks towards Anton Ferdinand during the Blue’s visit to Loftus Road over the weekend.
In a highly controversial fixture, where the Blues were reduced to nine men the Chelsea captain was accused of insulting the Queens Park Rangers defender Anton Ferdinand. Video footage of the incident seemed to show Terry in a heated argument with his fellow
Englishman, in what could easily be interpreted as racial abuse.
While the incident was hushed up right after the controversial 1-0 win by Queens Park http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rangers-c40314, Ferdinand reportedly met with his manager Neil Warnock the next day and the two decided to complain to the FA regarding the issue.
It is because of that complain that the FA have decided to launch an investigation into the matter, something they confirmed in the statement they released. While condemning the alleged racial abuse, the FA revealed they would take strict action against
the offender.
An official statement by the FA read:
“The FA can confirm it has received a complaint relating to an alleged incident of racist abuse in the QPR versus http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 fixture at Loftus Road on 23 October 2011.”
The FA will now begin to make enquiries into this matter.”
The Blues will be aware of the consequences the FA’s verdict will have on their captain, for both club and country. There is a possibility that Terry could be stripped of his captaincy once again, if found guilty by the FA on the charges of racial abuse.
The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 captain insisted he was not guilty and defended himself by claiming that he had only responded aggressively to the accusations. He believed it was the response that had been mistaken for the make believe racial attack, something he continued
to deny.
Terry revealed:
“I thought Anton was accusing me of using a racist slur against him. I responded aggressively, saying that I never used that term.”
The Chelsea manager, Andre Villas-Boas, watched from the sidelines on Sunday as his side, who had been reduced to nine men, battled an aggressive Queens Park Rangers side. The Portuguese manager revealed Terry had his full backing in the matter.
Villas-Boas said:
“He's put out his statement and we fully back John. John is a player who represents this country to the highest level internationally.”
According to Villas-Boas, Terry had the responsibility of captaining both his club and country and could not afford such scandals. He believed his skipper knew well than to get involved in such unnecessary issues and reiterated that he would continue to
support his team in all matters.
Terry, on the other hand, confirmed that he was not worried by the FA investigation and instead was looking forward to. The central defender said he wanted his name cleared as soon as possible so he could put the unpleasant matter behind him.
The Chelsea skipper revealed:
“I welcome the FA enquiry and look forward to clearing my name as soon as possible. Until then I have no further comment.”
