Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas to drop http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fernando-Torres-c13707 if he doesn’t improve
Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas revealed he had warned striker Fernando Torres that his place in the squad was not permanent. After failing to impress the Portuguese manager and losing his place on the Spain national team, Torres could be spending time
on the bench if he fails to improve in the near future.
Torres arrived from English Premier League rivals http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011
World Cup winner, but he did not make too much of a difference for Chelsea.
After various changes over the summer, including the removal of Ancelotti and the arrival of Andre Villas-Boas in his place, Torres has still not rediscovered his form. He now stands the risk of losing his spot in the first team as Chelsea aim to catch up
with Manchester United and Manchester City.
Unlike the Manchester clubs, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 have not had a smooth start to the English Premier League season. The Blues were held at a goal-less draw at Stoke City on their opening game of the season. While they have managed wins since then, they still remain two
points behind the league leaders.
Villas-Boas failed to write Torres off, as many critics and fans had done, claiming he still had faith in the 27-year-old forward. He said that while Torres had the talent, he was just missing the confidence required to start scoring goals again.
Villas-Boas said while speaking to reporters:
“He didn't lose his talent because he's played 21 games and only scored one goal. The talent is there and the question is regaining confidence.”
In his first full season at the London club, the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Porto-c39186 boss was confident Torres would gain that confidence and find his goal scoring form again. However, the Blues manager revealed he was only willing to give Torres a certain amount of time since
he did not want his poor form to affect the rest of the team.
He continued:
“That comes from training and from time and finding the back of the net, so we have to persist.
But it can't compromise the team. The moment it compromises the team it has to come to an end.”
Villas-Boas maintained he had no problem dropping players from the starting XI if they failed to perform, hinting that Torres would soon be dropped if he didn’t step up. With http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Didier-Drogba-c11044 out with a head injury, Torres will have a chance to prove himself
against Sunderland today.
The Portuguese manager revealed:
“I don't make a first choice team, just the choice for the next game.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fernando-c13609 started the first three games and Didier came off the bench. We make choices regarding what we see. I have no problem dropping players.”
