Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas unsure over Didier Drogba’s future as talks continue

a new contract. The Blues hit-man will be out of contract next year, which is why there was talk of a contract extension.
However, the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fernando-Torres-c13707 over Drogba, seems to have put a strain on
contract talks. It is now rumoured that Drogba could be leaving Stamford Bridge in the current transfer window after all.
Drogba started on the bench against Stoke City on the opening fixture of the new English Premier League season and once again against West Brom over the weekend. The Ivorian was brought on towards the end of the game, when it was too late for him to make
an impact. The likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Salomon-Kalou-c32266 have been selected ahead of him, which will understandably be upsetting.
Villas-Boas said in an interview:
“I don't know what is happening. Didier knows about our offers and he has made a counter-offer and we are evaluating some things.
I cannot be precise on whether he wants a longer deal than offered.”
If Drogba does end up leaving this summer then it will draw a close to an eight year long career at Stamford Bridge. The strong striker, who arrived during Jose Mourinho’s era in 2004, has been the first-choice striker since then. Having made an impressive
307 appearances in all competitions, Drogba has scored 144 goals.
It is too early to speculate on whether or not Drogba will leave, especially since the striker himself claimed he wanted to remain at Chelsea and preferably end his career with the London club. Both parties are currently having talks and an agreement is
expected to be reached before the deadline day of the transfer window.
