Chelsea boss Andres Villas Boas’ summer targets; http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Radamel-Falcao-c30276, Joao Moutinho, Hulk, Neymar and Luka Modric
Former FC Porto boss Andres Villas Boas has apparently already decided which players he wants to bring in at Chelsea, even before being officially appointed by the London side.
The 33-year-old manager resigned as the coach of the Portuguese giants yesterday, with some sources claiming that he had paid the £13.3 million release clause himself.
It was also yesterday that Villas Boas was flown to Stamford Bridge, where he discussed a possible agreement with the Blues.
Even though an official announcement is yet to be made on his appointment as Chelsea coach, Boas seems to have already begun his work at the London club.
It has been reported that Villas Boas will be provided with a budget of £100 million plus, with which he can bring in new signings.
Recent rumours suggest Andres Villas Boas could be bringing in the likes of Radamel Falcao, Joao Moutinho, Hulk, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Luka-Modric-c22857.
After the news of Villas Boas’ departure to Chelsea broke, Falcao and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Hulk-c16436 claimed they would be willing to follow the Portuguese manager to Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea have yet to show interest or make an offer for either player, but it is highly unlikely http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 will be willing to pay €100 million for Hulk.
The 24-year-old winger c*m striker has been exceptional for FC Porto last season, playing an important role in their highly successful season.
Hulk scored 36 goals and provided 21 assists for the Portuguese giants in 51 appearances in all competitions last season.
His release clause of €100 million may be well deserved, but it is still too expensive for most sides, which is what FC Porto had in mind when they decided on such a high figure.
Falcao on the other hand, is more affordable, even though it is not certain where Villas Boas will plan to play the striker.
The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fernando-Torres-c13707, which casts a doubt on his ability to fit in at the Premier League outfit.
Chelsea already have an overflow of strikers, which is why the arrival of Falcao will not make sense unless a few existing ones are offloaded in the summer.
Another http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Porto-c39186 player that Villas Boas is considering bringing to Chelsea is 24-year-old playmaker Joao Moutinho.
The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Portugal-c2984 international is not best known for his goal scoring abilities, but is an otherwise excellent player who is able to play on either wing as an attacking or holding midfielder.
Moutinho was lined up by Villas Boas in case the Blues were unable to secure the signature of Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Luka Modric.
The Blues are amongst a host of sides targeting the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Croatia-c2879 international, but so far the Spurs manager Harry Redknapp is unrelenting over letting his prized midfielder leave.
Chelsea’s initial bid of £25 million was rejected by the Spurs, with Redknapp claiming he did not feel the price was suitable for a player like Modric.
Chelsea are believed to be revising their bid, which could go up to at least £35 million, but there is no guarantee the Spurs will bend.
Last but not least, Chelsea are still competing with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Real-c30728 Madrid for Brazilian youngster Neymar and are willing to empty out their wallet for the 19-year-old.
It is understood that Villas Boas is inclined towards bringing in the FC Porto players, but will consider the other targets for the sake of Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich.
