Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti admits desire to stay at Stamford Bridge but insists he will not fight for his job
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Job-c18684 at Stamford Bridge. There have been rumors suggesting the Italian manager will be sacked at the end of the season after having failed to win a single trophy this season.
The highly disappointing season comes after Ancelotti led the Blues to their first ever double of the English Premier League and the FA Cup. However, it does not seem to be enough to give the former AC Milan manager any job security.
Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is already on the look-out for a replacement and has apparently narrowed down his options to Jose Mourinho, Guus Hiddink and Andres Villas Boas.
With all the speculation going on, Ancelotti has remained calm and has insisted that he wishes to remain at Chelsea. However, he refused to fight for his current position, saying he felt he had done a good job at the Premier League side.
Ancelotti said while speaking to reporters, “I don't want to 'fight' to keep my job. The club have to judge two years of my job. If they think that my job was good for this club, I will stay. If they think that my job was not so good, I will have to go.”
While he has confessed his wish to stay, Ancelotti admitted the decision was not up to him and was entirely in the hands of the Chelsea management.
The Blues boss said he had made his desire to stay at Stamford Bridge very clear but the decision was not up to him. He continued, “I'm not 'desperate' to keep this job. It's not my decision.
The Italian manager said he was happy at the London side, he said, “My desire is to stay here because I feel happy here. I continue to feel good here. I http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Love-c22466 this atmosphere and the training ground.”
Ancelotti still has a year remaining on his current contract, but with the way things are going it is highly unlikely that he will be at Stamford Bridge next season.
With just a single game remaining this season, Ancelotti will have to wait until the end of the week to learn if he will be keeping his job.
Chelsea travel to Goodison Park on Sunday to take on http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Everton-c39043 in their last English Premier League fixture of the season.
The result of the game will not make a difference to Chelsea’s standing in the league, having already secured a second place finish with a UEFA Champions League qualification.
Even though Chelsea failed to win any silverware this season, Ancelotti revealed he felt his side had done a decent job. He said, “The people who are working around me are very honest and professional. I think, together, we did a good job.”
From being fifth place in March to reaching a second place finish by May, Chelsea have made an impressive comeback this season to beat the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429, Manchester City and Tottenham to almost challenge Manchester United for the title.
