Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti confident about his side’s chances of retaining the EPL title
Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti revealed that he felt his side were back in the title race after their 3-1 win over Birmingham City last night, which put them at second place on the Premier League table above Arsenal.
The Blues are now just 6 points behind league leaders Manchester United and could go on to win the Premier League crown if they win their remaining five matches and the Red Devils lose two of their remaining fixtures.
The Chelsea boss was confident of his side’s chances of going on to win the title in what has been a particularly disappointing season for them. He revealed http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 would need fewer points to win this season as compared to last season when they won the domestic
double.
Ancelotti said while speaking to reporters, “To win the title we'll need less points than last season. We won it with 86 last season. Now, with 80 points, United can win the title. They need 10 points.”
Ancelotti said he had learnt that football was unpredictable and he felt that anything could happen at this point in the season.
He continued, “In football, I learned that everything can happen in the game right up to the final whistle. You can win the title in the last minute and you can lose the title in the last minute.”
With the way things are going, the Blues gaining momentum with every match, the title could very well be decided on the last day.
The Italian revealed he was proud of his side for regaining their form and managing to reach second place. Ancelotti said no one would have believed his side would be able to get this far considering their poor form earlier on in the season.
“If we thought that one month ago we'd have a little chance to come back to fight for the title, I think that everyone could have said we were crazy. Now we are happy tonight [Wednesday] because we've reached second place,” concluded the Chelsea manager.
Chelsea have just five games remaining in the Premier League, the result of which could make or break their season. In their next two fixtures, the Blues will host West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur at Stamford Bridge, after which they travel to Old Trafford
to try and repay Manchester United for the UEFA Champions League quarter-final exit. Their last two fixtures are include a trip to Newcastle United and a home game against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Everton-c39043.
