Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti, has defended his big money signing Fernando Torres’ goal drought since moving to Stamford Bridge.
The World Cup winning forward made his way to London following a record transfer fee of £50million. However since leaving http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809, he has not been able to find the back of the net in the blue jersey.
Regardless, Ancelotti has full confidence in his striker, and believes that all he needs is some more time to get used to life in London.
“Torres didn't score but I don't ask my strikers to score,” the Italian said. “I ask them to play for the team. Torres did a very good job with that. People judge him on the goals he scored but I have to look at different things about his performance.”
Ancelotti said that Torres has been working well as a team player, and despite not being able to score he has played a part in creating goals. He said that a manager needs a player who gives it his all, and added that he is not bothered if Torres does not
score goals as long as he continues to show full commitment and works hard for the team.
Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich appointed Ancelotti after sacking Portuguese Luis Felipe Scolari. He managed to win the Premier League and the FA Cup in his first full season. The Italian said that since he joined Chelsea he has treated the club as his own,
and he has made sure that he gets involved in every aspect of the club.
Ancelotti said that singing players is a big part of being a manager, and he is not someone who would pick out a player just because of his current form or reputation. The man who won multiple Champions League trophies with AC Milan said that, when the board
decided that they wanted to move in to get Torres he was delighted as he knew he was going to get a player who will lead http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 attack for the long run.
Since the arrival of Fernando Torres at Chelsea, Ancelotti has had to make the tough decision of benching Chelsea’s most successful striker in the last decade. Didier Drogba has been reduced to the bench in number of games, including the all important one
against Manchester United.
However, Ancelotti has also tried to play all 3 of his strikers http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Didier-Drogba-c11044 and Fernando Torres together. Ancelotti also tried the combination where Drogba and Torres played up front, while Anelka played as the man behind the strikers.
Ancelotti said that every team has its own style of play, and Chelsea may opt to play with three strikers till the end of the season.
