Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is reportedly considering replace Italian manager Carlo Ancelotti because of his failure to win any trophies this season.
The Russian billionaire has invested heavily in the London club since he took over in 2003 and does not take kindly to failure to secure silverware.
Since he took over the club he has gone through five managers in six years. The likes of Claudio Ranieri, Jose Mourinho, Avram Grant and Luiz http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Felipe-c13510 Scolari have all faced the axe for their inability to produce results.
Ancelotti seems to be going down the same road, despite having won the domestic double last season. His success in his first season at the club makes his impending sacking very harsh as compared the previous managers.
The former AC Milan manager has made it clear he wishes to remain at the club next season, until the end of his existing season.
However, he admitted the decision was not up to him and he was waiting on the Chelsea management to make up their mind.
Ancelotti will have to wait until next week, after the weekend clash against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Everton-c13019 at Goodison Park, to learn whether or not he will be allowed to see out his contract at the club.
Ancelotti is well aware of Abramovich and his unexpected sackings, having witnessed his assistant coach Ray Wilkins being sacked at the start of the current season.
While Ancelotti had previously claimed he had had no say in Wilkins’ sacking, he refused to comment on it. He said, “I don't want to give an opinion on this.”
Ancelotti said while speaking to reporters, “It's not a difficult club if they decide to sack me. At a difficult club, you are not able to do your http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Job-c18684 when you're there.”
Chelsea is indeed a difficult club, not in terms of the players but the management and their policies. An obsession to win the UEFA Champions League has destroyed the clubs stability.
A change in manager every other season has created an atmosphere of mistrust and uncertainty at Stamford Bridge, which has undoubtedly contributed to the Blues decline this season.
Despite the recent speculation, Ancelotti revealed he was perfectly happy at the London club and wished to stay there until the end of his contract, which was the end of next season.
The Italian manager said, “Here, I have a lot of responsibility. I didn't have pressure in these two years. I was very much under control. Nobody put too much pressure on me, to put this player or that player in the team. I had my ideas no problem.”
Ancelotti denied being influenced by the Blues owner in making decisions to pick the team. He confirmed he had been independent of any outside influence despite what the media had suggested.
He was of course referring to the signing if former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fernando-Torres-c13707 in the January transfer window for a record breaking fee of £50 million and his continuous presence in the squad despite his failure to perform.
