Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti focused on Newcastle clash at Stamford Bridge
Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti spoke ahead of the clash against Newcastle United at Stamford Bridge today, claiming it would be an appropriate time to thank the team’s supporters.
The Blues are just two matches away from ending a trophy less, disappointing season and the Italian manager felt the supporters deserved special thanks for their continuous support.
Ancelotti said while speaking to reporters, “I am focused to put the best team out, to win, to say thanks to our fans. They gave us fantastic support and it's not been an easy season for them.”
The London side have had a very uncertain season, from a brilliant start they went on to face their worst ever slump in over 15 years.
In March the Blues were at 5th place on the Premier League table, 15 points behind league leaders Manchester United, fighting for a place in the top three.
Within two months, they rediscovered their form and were just three points behind the Red Devils going into the clash at Old Trafford.
With the sort of season they had, Ancelotti revealed he was proud of his side and the fact that they had managed to challenge United for the title so late in the season.
Ancelotti insisted he was already looking forward to the next campaign, in which he was certain the Blues would do better than this time.
He revealed it didn’t matter if it was his last home game of the season, he said, “It doesn't matter if it's the last or not. We have to wait and see what happens at the end of the season.”
Despite all the speculation and rumors surrounding his position, Ancelotti has remained calm and has maintained his focus on the remaining fixtures.
The Italian boss insisted he was calm about his future, he continued, “I don't know what is going to happen about my future, but I'm not nervous. I'm quiet. I'm calm.”
However, he maintained his desire to remain at Chelsea, he said, “I hope to stay - I've said a lot of times - but if something's changed, I will find another solution without problem.”
After Serie A side AS Roma sacked manager Claudio Ranieri mid-season they have been eyeing Ancelotti to replace him.
If Ancelotti is indeed sacked at the end of the season, there are plenty of other top sides who would welcome him with open arms.
Roma will be leading the race to secure his services, with the Italian manager having played there during his days as a footballer.
If he does leave http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roma-c31603, or another top European side, depending on what offers come his way.
