Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti not impressed with striker Salomon Kalou’s display after win over Tottenham Hotspur
Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti did not quite approve of match winner Salomon Kalou’s attitude after scoring the winning goal against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday at Stamford Bridge. The 25-year-old striker was brought on for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fernando-Torres-c13707 in the second
half and immediately made the difference for his side and found the back of the net to give the Blues the much needed three points.
The victory over the Spurs ensured the Blues closed the gap between league leaders Manchester United, who lost 1-0 to Arsenal on Sunday. The result of the weekend fixtures mean that the Blues are now just three points behind Sir Alex Ferguson’s side and
have the chance to go top of the league when they face them this Sunday at Old Trafford.
However, the match winner was not happy and made it very clear after the final whistle. The Ivory Coast international went straight down the tunnel instead of celebrating with the rest of his teammates. He was upset for not getting a start alongside Didier
Drogba, having been benched in favor of former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 striker Fernando Torres.
While Kalou scored his 10th goal of the season against the Spurs, Torres has found the back of the net just once since his £50 million arrival at Stamford Bridge in the January transfer window. However, despite the vast difference in performance
and goal tally, Ancelotti has picked Torres over Kalou on more than one occasion, which is why the Ivorian was upset.
However, the Italian manager has had years of experience with top players and was not too impressed with Kalou’s display after the match. Ancelotti is excellent at handling superstars, one of the reasons he has been so successful at the London club, and
when asked about the striker’s display of displeasure, revealed he was not amused.
The former AC Milan manager revealed he had no interest in Kalou’s unenthusiastic behavior after scoring the winner against Tottenham Hotspur in the crucial London derby
“I am happy because he scored a goal and if he didn't celebrate because he was disappointed, I'm not interested,” said the Chelsea manager.
“It's not a problem. I have to manage valuable professional players and I understand sometimes they are not happy to stay on the bench, but this is Chelsea. It is a top club; you have competition in the squad because a top club does not just have 11 players,”
he added.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 take on Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday and Kalou’s display last Saturday could very well have earned him another start on the bench. The Italian manager hinted he could start with Torres once again, despite the striker not being able
to link up with Drogba in the 4-4-2 formation.
