Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti realistic over English Premier League title chances
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 boss Carlo Ancelotti remained realistic about his side’s chances of retaining the Premier League crown, even after beating Manchester United 2-1 at Stamford Bridge last night. The Italian manager revealed his side had very small chance of winning
the Premier League title once again after they put on a brilliant display to come from behind to beat league leaders Manchester United.
Manchester United striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wayne-Rooney-c36736 scored in the first half to give his side the lead and the Blues were left chasing. However, Chelsea were a different side when they returned from the half time break; not only did they have more possession; they had
more shots on target and were dominating the play.
The equalizer from the home side came from an unlikely source, the 23-year-old Brazilian defender http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fernando-Torres-c13707, for a price much
less than that was paid for the Spanish striker.
Having previously made just a few appearances for Chelsea in the Premier League, the Brazilian surpassed all expectations as he went on score the equalizer against Manchester United. Apart from the brilliant goal that put the Blues back into the game, Luiz
was everywhere. It was Luiz who managed to do what defenders more experienced than himself couldn’t do, he contained Rooney.
Apart from his goal in the first half, Rooney was rendered helpless. Despite their poor run recently, Ancelotti’s side outplayed United and came out the winners. However, the Italian manager felt that it was a case of too little too late. Chelsea are 12
points behind Manchester United, having played a game less and unless United run into some serious bad luck there is no way the Blues can retain their title.
The former AC Milan coach did not want his side to get ahead of themselves after the win over the current league leaders. Ancelotti said while speaking to reporters, “We are too far from Manchester United. It's difficult for them to lose points in the next
few games. We have to concentrate on ourselves and look not too far in the future.”
Ancelotti can be credited for remaining humble and gracious in victory; he admitted the Red Devils were at the top of the table because they had earned that position. He continued, “I cannot believe we are this far behind, but we have to be honest. This
is where we are in the table, and United have played with more consistency than us.”
Manchester United have been very consistent so far, but a few tough fixtures ahead could change all that. After the disappointing trip to Stamford Bridge, Sir Alex Ferguson’s men take on a resurgent http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809, while the Blues have comparatively easier fixtures
ahead of them. The title race is unpredictable and with quite a few games ahead of them, it’s anyone’s title to win.
