Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti sets his sights on Champions League crown
Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti has claimed that he is focusing all his energies towards leading his side to their first ever Champions League title this season. The Blues boss revealed that he has urged his players to abandon the quest to retain their Premier
League crown and aim for a minimum fourth place finish in the League.
Chelsea are currently in fifth place, 12 points behind leaders Manchester United. With such a huge gap between the two, Ancelotti feels that the Blues are now out of the title race. Since Chelsea are also out of the FA Cup and the Carling Cup, there is only
one prize left to fight for – the Champions League trophy.
The Champions League is the one prize that has eluded Chelsea for so long. The Blues came close to winning it in 2008, only to lose to Manchester United on penalties. Ancelotti claims that he is trying his best to lead Chelsea all the way to the title this
time. He revealed that he is no longer concerned with winning the Premier League.
Ancelotti said, “I am thinking about the Champions League and fourth place at the minimum in the Premier League. I have drummed it into the team; think about the final at Wembley. I am working a lot.”
Though he insists that Chelsea are no longer in the race for the Premier League title, Ancelotti might be forced to reconsider his stance should the Blues triumph over Manchester United on 1st March at Stamford Bridge. However, as of now, it
seems he is content with focusing on the Champions League.
