Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti has urged the Blues to make the most of the current situation and defeat Manchester United this Sunday to go top of the Premier League table. The Blues defeated Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 on Saturday, while league leaders Manchester
United lost 1-0 to third place http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-Maseru-c38430. That gives Chelsea a decent chance to catch up with Sir Alex Ferguson’s side.
While the Blues win was highly controversial, it was a win nonetheless and gave Chelsea the much needed three points which have kept them in the title race. The Italian boss said it was up to the players to step up against Manchester United and get a result.
Ancelotti did however, admit it would not be easy to secure a win against the Red Devils at their home.
Speaking to reporters after the win over the Spurs, Ancelotti said, “The moment. You need to use character and personality to play this match. Both teams have that, but it is the momentum. It is the best moment to play there because now our condition is
good and the momentum is also. But obviously it will not be easy to play there.”
The former AC Milan boss led the Blues to their first ever double; Premier League and FA Cup, last season. He has failed to recreate his success this term and it has led to speculation that the Italian might be on his way out at the end of the season. The
disappointing season saw Chelsea exit the Carling Cup, FA Cup and more recently the UEFA Champions League.
They even failed to maintain their position in the top three of the Premier League and have just recently returned to their old form. The Blues have overcome their worst slump in over 15 years to once again be considered title contenders, with just three
games remaining in the season. Chelsea are currently just three points behind Manchester United and stand a chance to overtake the Red Devils.
As always, Ancelotti remained humble, even with improved chances to retain the Premier League title, and said his side had to battle a tough United side to get to the top. He continued, “I don't think we are better (than United). I think we have the same
power, the same strength, the same ability. Football is strange. If it happens, it will be really strange.”
The Blues had previously been written off, predicted to end their disappointing season without a trophy. With a historic comeback in the making, a win over Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday could very well result in the Blues retaining the Premier
League crown and Ancelotti keeping his job at Stamford Bridge.
