Chelsea boss says he faces sack if results don't improve
Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti claims that he faces being sacked from his position if results don't improve at the English Premier League club.
The Italian lost back-to-back league games for the first time as boss of the Blues when they lost 1-0 to Birmingham City on Saturday 20 November. The loss followed a 3-0 reverse at the hands of Sunderland on Sunday 14 November, and it was Chelsea's third
defeat in four EPL games after losing to Liverpool on 7 November.
As a result, Ancelotti is feeling the pressure and while he claimed he hoped to stay in the job for a long time to come, he is aware that he is under threat of being dismissed from his post if he can't turn round a string of results that has allowed Manchester
United to catch up in the table.
He told reporters, "I have my contract until 2012 here, in this club, and I've said a lot of times that I'd like to stay here. I love not just this club, but these players. I have a lot of confidence in these players, in this squad. But when the team don't
reach the right results, obviously the coach is under pressure.
"Obviously I am under pressure because I'd like Chelsea to win every game. The coach is in trouble when the team doesn't produce results, but this is my life. I like my life. I'm not disappointed about this. I'm disappointed because Chelsea have lost three
in four games, and this is not good — for me, for the players, for the club and for my job. My aim is to stay here at this club, in this country, in this atmosphere, for a long time. It depends on me."
Ancelotti has been at the helm at Stamford Bridge since the summer of 2009 and helped the Blues to win their first EPL title in four years in the 2009-10 season. He also helped them to complete a historic league and cup double when he led Chelsea to an FA
Cup triumph in May.
The Italian also enjoyed a great deal of success with AC Milan, having won a Serie A title, an Italian Cup, one Italian Supercup, two UEFA Champions League titles, two UEFA Super Cups and one FIFA Club World Cup.
