Chelsea can’t have Asmir Begovic says Stoke boss Pulis
Stoke City shop stopper Asmir Begovic has been the subject of speculation, with a move to Stamford Bridge on the cards - those speculations have now been ruled out as Stoke boss Tony Pulis announces that Begovic is going nowhere.
The Bosnian international keeper has made four appearances for the club since signing in January after failing to force his way past Thomas Sorensen in the battle to become number one.
Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti wants Begovic as back-up to Petr Cech, and put an offer of £4million on the table which was rejected. But that hasn’t stopped the Premier League champions.
Pulis has spoken out to put an end to it, he said: “We’re not in a position where we have to sell. Chelsea made an enquiry but there is no necessity to cash in.
“Chelsea have been told he is not for sale. We are trying to bring players in, not let them go.
“We want him to work alongside Thomas and let the two of them fight it out. It’s good competition.
“We got him on a very good deal from ¬Portsmouth and we want to keep the lad here.”
