Chelsea captain John Terry feels his team can retain Barclays Premier League title – EPL news
Chelsea skipper John Terry is confident that his team can still overhaul League leaders Manchester United and retain their Barclays Premier League title despite their latest 1-1 draw against Stoke City.
Terry said, “At a different stage of the season you could look at the result against Stoke and maybe say that it was a good point, but the position we were in we needed to win the game to keep on the tail of Man United and Arsenal so it is two points dropped.”
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/John-Terry-c18895 has urged his teammates to remain positive after the Stoke stalemate and wants them to give their best performance in the upcoming UEFA Champions League quarter-final clash against Manchester United at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday.
The 30-year-old defender admitted that drawing against Stoke City was disappointing but claimed that the Stoke result will not affect their performance against Manchester United. Terry believes that Chelsea still have a psychological edge over the Red Devils,
as the Blues have never been beaten by Sir Alex Ferguson at Stamford Bridge since 1998.
The Chelsea skipper said, “It was always going to be a massive challenge and we are still not giving up - no chance. But we must pick ourselves up and go again on Wednesday. It is a huge game against Man United back at the Bridge in front of our fans and
hopefully that will be the key.”
Despite enduring a lacklustre mid-season in which they even slumped to the fifth position from the top spot, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 have bounced back in an emphatic fashion and put themselves right back into contention for the Premier League title.
The reigning English champions marked back-to-back wins over Manchester United and Manchester City, which put them within touching distance of the League leaders, Manchester United.
Chelsea are currently placed fourth in the Premier League table, 11 points behind Manchester United but have a game in hand.
Moreover, Carlo Ancelotti’s men are yet to play United at Old Trafford and Terry feels that this fixture will decide the season for both clubs.
