Chelsea and England captain John Terry revealed he felt that Brazilian centre-back David Luiz could very well replace him as captain at Chelsea when he stepped down. The former Benfica defender has proved to be exceptional ever since his arrival in the January transfer window.
Not only has he performed his defensive duties to perfection, the 23-year-old has managed to score twice in seven appearances. He is undoubtedly the reason why http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 have found themselves back in the top four of the Premier League table.
Both of Luiz’s goals came during crucial fixtures, his debut goal coming against none other than Premier League leaders Manchester United, to help his side to a 2-1 win. The second one was equally important, against Manchester City at Stamford Bridge, which earned him the Man of the Match award.
Terry admitted that Luiz had made a big impact at the club. He said while speaking to reporters, “On the pitch he has been incredible, a real exceptional player, and is a possible future captain of the club, he has provided a real buzz around the camp.”
Luiz has indeed been exceptional for Chelsea in the English Premier League; it is a pity he is unable to feature for them in the UEFA Champions League. The Brazilian is cup-tied in the European competition, having played for Benfica in the earlier stages.
Kaka to remain at Real Madrid
Brazilian midfielder Kaka has denied reports that he is leaving Real Madrid at the end of the season. The star midfielder joined Madrid from Serie A side AC Milan in 2009 for a record fee of €63 million but has been unlucky with injuries since he joined the La Liga.
However, the 28-year-old claimed he had every intention of staying at Real Madrid despite not being able to secure a place in the starting XI. His recurrent knee injuries have made sure that he is not fit long enough to make it to the first team.
Kaka said while speaking to reporters, “Some people took advantage of my injury and said I wanted to go but that isn't true. I want to triumph at Real Madrid. I feel like I owe it to Real Madrid and the fact that I haven't fulfilled expectations bothers me.”
He has been linked with a move to defending champions Chelsea and Manchester City in the English Premier League. The 28-year-old Brazilian was also linked with a return to former club AC Milan, but he rubbished all such speculation.
The Madrid midfielder was confident he would improve if he was given time, he continued, “I understand the fans. I hope to win over the fans again with time and by playing some important games. I only ask for time.”
