Chelsea captain http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/John-Terry-c18895 still hopeful of retaining Premier League title – EPL news
Chelsea skipper John Terry has insisted that his side has not given up on retaining their English Premier League title despite dropping points against Stoke City.
Meanwhile, title rivals Manchester United accumulated maximum points after their 4-2 victory over West Ham United.
At present, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 are placed fourth in the Premier League standings, 11 points behind League leaders Manchester United. However, the Blues do have a game in hand.
The draw against Stoke City surely dented Chelsea’s hopes of catching the Red Devils and Terry admits the result was disappointing for his side.
Terry told Chelsea’s official website, “At a different stage of the season you could look at the result against Stoke and maybe say that it was a good point, but the position we were in we needed to win the game to keep on the tail of Man United and Arsenal
so it is two points dropped.”
The Chelsea captain admits it is an enormous challenge to overturn the deficit at this stage of the ongoing 2010-11 season but he still believes his side has the firepower to overhaul United.
He added, “It was always going to be a massive challenge and we are still not giving up - no chance. But we must pick ourselves up and go again.”
Chelsea and Manchester United face each other in the quarter-final of the UEFA Champions League. Terry believes if his side can beat United in the Champions League, they can have a psychological advantage over the Red Devils in the run-in to the Premier
League season. The first of the two-legged quarter-final will be played at Stamford Bridge on 6 April, 2011.
Terry stated, “It is a huge game against Man United back at the Bridge in front of our fans and hopefully that will be the key.”
One positive from Chelsea’s 1-1 draw against Stoke City was that striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809. Terry is delighted
for his teammate and feels the striker will prove to be vital for the season run-in.
If Chelsea are to retain their Premier League title they have to collect maximum points from their remaining fixtures and hope their rivals drop points.
