The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Porto-c39186 tactician believes that there’s a lack of interest in youth Development in the Premier League and hopes for feeder clubs to be introduced.
The Blues manager is clearly not content with the little attention clubs spare for youth development in the Premier League, and has suggested that B teams should be introduced in the lower divisions. Such a step would see Premier League follow the footsteps
of Spanish La Liga, where B teams are made to play in Segunda division.
The feeder club idea was also proposed by Carlo Ancelotti and Rafa Benitez, but no step was taken to address the issue.
"The youth development system in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 is not right, in my belief. There is plenty of effort and talks to get it right but in my opinion it is not," said Boas while addressing the issue.
"The reserve team league is not competitive. The youth levels are not competitive enough. The FA Youth Cup: does it favour talent or competition?
"In my opinion there is a missing link between age groups in all competitions. There should be national championships played between teams from around the country.
"The older ones should play nationally. The younger ones should play regionally. You promote more talent and competitiveness and it is that which generates talent and willingness to drive."
The Portuguese manager has identified an issue that has been debated for long without much success. English Clubs have often been blasted for their inability to churn out world class talent.
Premier League clubs have taken to massive spending in recent times to cope with the brilliant youth coming through the ranks of Spanish and German clubs. And this is an approach not appreciated by many.
Italian and Spanish clubs have been the victim of English outfits ‘poaching’ young talents, albeit in accordance with the UEFA rules.
Fiery US Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini once famously labeled English clubs as pirates for their poaching talents from abroad.
The FA needs to address this issue and take steps for better development of English youth in order to curb the English spending, while also improving the quality of the English national team.
