Chelsea continue resurgence with 4-2 win over Sunderland
Reigning English champions Chelsea extended their winning streak to four games after seeing off a spirited Sunderland side 4-2 at the Stadium of Light on Tuesday night.
The Blues are steadily returning to their deadly best, putting four goals past Sunderland keeper http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Craig-Gordon-c9476. However, the Black Cats were hardly easy opponents. Steve Bruce's men gave Chelsea a real fight throughout most of the game. Ultimately though,
a sterling second half performance by Chelsea saw the Blues walk away with all three points from the Stadium of Light.
It was Sunderland who drew first blood. The hosts took an early lead through Phil Bardsley's bullet of a shot from outside the box. Chelsea responded immediately, with Ashley Cole making a surging run down the left flank after the restart. However, some
good defending from Sunderland denied the Blues an instant equaliser.
Chelsea wouldn't be denied for long though. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Frank-Lampard-c14097 made no mistake from the spot to bring the Blues back on level terms. They took the
lead soon after. Anelka's through ball found Solomon Kalou, and the striker finished superbly, slotting the ball past the rushing Craig Gordon.
Just before the half hour mark, the score was 2-2. Sunderland earned a free kick on the edge of the box after Mikel was adjudged to have fouled Elmohamady. Richardson shot the ball under the rising Chelsea wall and past a helpless Peter Cech, giving the
hosts real hope of pulling off yet another upset against the Blues.

The Blues started the second half like they ended the first, pushing forward in search of a winner. Sunderland seemed to have lost much of their attacking drive during the break, and they had to defend for their lives to keep Chelsea at bay. However, the
Blues finally made the pressure pay on the hour mark.
Frank Lampard's venomous shot was palmed away by Craig Gordon, only to find it's way to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/John-Terry-c18895. The defender took his chance superbly and placed the ball into the top left corner to give Chelsea a vital lead.
From that point, the Blues dominated the match, creating chance after chance to kill off the game. Chelsea's fantastic second half performance was capped off by a fine goal from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Nicolas-Anelka-c27786 in the final minute of stoppage time, ensuring that the Blues
walked away with all three points in the end.
