Chelsea cool talks with Anderlecht over young striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Romelu-Lukaku-c31672
With the appointment of former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Porto-c39186 boss Andre Villas-Boas as the new Chelsea manager, the Blues seem to have changed their policy of spending in the summer transfer window.
While before the arrival of the 33-year-old manager, the Blues had a number of targets identified, including http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Luka-Modric-c22857.
However, since Villas-Boas has taken over, the Blues have not followed up on either one of their previously identified targets.
Unlike Neymar, the 18-year-old Lukaku had claimed he wanted to make a move to Stamford Bridge despite interest from other top sides.
It was reported by sources close to both clubs that the deal was in its final stages and that the official announcement would be made soon.
Days have turned into weeks and the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Belgium-c2850 side is worried the Blues might have changed their mind about the player referred to as the “new Drogba”.
Herman Van Holsbeeck, the general manager of Anderlecht, revealed he had heard reports claiming that Villas-Boas was not interested in the young striker.
Holsbeeck revealed he was certain the Blues were still interested in the Belgian international and insisted the only way they would sell was if the right price was offered.
The Anderlecht general manager said:
“There is a rumour that the new http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 coach doesn't fancy Romelu, but those people clearly have different information to us.”
Like Holsbeeck, the chairman of Anderlecht was certain Lukaku was still headed to the London club in the summer transfer window.
He mentioned he was not worried about Lukaku and would be more than willing to keep the striker at the club for another season or two if the deal with the English Premier League giants didn’t go through.
The club chairman said in an interview:
“Lukaku himself says it will be Chelsea and so I guess it will be Chelsea - but they're not going to give us the money just like that. They want to keep the price as low as possible.”
“We will see what happens. We're not worried. I think Lukaku will eventually move to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 but if he stays with us for another year, that is fine as well. We are patient and we don't desperately need the money.”
