Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic claimed the Blues were not worried about facing Manchester United at Old Trafford over the weekend. Manchester United have gone off to a flying start, winning all their opening Premier League matches. Chelsea however,
have not had similar luck being held to the goal-less draw at Stoke City on the opening day of the new campaign.
Manchester United currently sit at the top of the table with 18 goals from four games, making them an unbeatable side. The Blues were at the same position last season, only they did not manage to retain their lead due to a mid-season slump and eventually
finished second on the Premier League table. The 27-year-old Serbian was hopeful his side would do well against the Red Devils.
Ivanovic said while speaking to reporters:
“United started very well this season, but if you remember, we started last season the same.
They've improved as a group but we have our aim, we have our idea and we try to use this on the pitch.”
Ivanovic admitted that Manchester United had been terrific since the start of the season, but maintained faith in his team. The Serbian revealed that the only way to get a decent result against the home side would be to give a 100%. With last season’s defeats
still fresh in his memory, Ivanovic revealed the upcoming game was Chelsea’s hardest so far.
Manchester United defeated Chelsea thrice last season, once at Old Trafford and twice in the UEFA Champions League, successfully ending their dreams of claiming the European trophy once again. The Blues’ right back c*m central defender felt it had been the
need to win the aforementioned fixtures that had ultimately resulted in their failure to do so.
However, Ivanovic revealed that he felt that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 had improved since then and would be able a tougher opposition for Manchester United this time around. With the Blues just two points behind Manchester United, the game was a crucial one for both sides.
Ivanovic said his side would not want to lose the match since the Red Devils would increase their lead at the top, while a Chelsea win would mean the London side going top of the table.
He continued:
“We can go also on the top after this game.
Psychologically for both teams, it's a very important game.
Every tackle, every pass, everything, you feel directly how strong your opponent's performance is.”
On Sunday, Ivanovic’s main challenge will be to contain Manchester United striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 international has been in terrific goal scoring form, having scored eight goals already in the English Premier League. While the Serbian was not able
to successfully handle Rooney last time around, Ivanovic said he was hoping to have better luck on Sunday.
