http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-Luiz-c10542 confident Andre Villas-Boas to succeed in England, praises new arrival Raul Meireles
Chelsea defender David Luiz said he believed new Blues manager Andre Villas-Boas would be successful in the English Premier League. The 24-year-old Brazilian defender also revealed he was looking forward to playing alongside former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 midfielder Raul
Meireles.
The Blues signed the 28-year-old http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Luka-Modric-c22857, Luiz is confident the Blues made the
right choice by signing Meireles.
The former Benfica defender, who arrived at Stamford Bridge in the January transfer window along with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fernando-Torres-c13707 while Carlo Ancelotti was in charge, said he felt Villas-Boas would do well in England. According to Luiz, the fact that Villas-Boas spoke
Portuguese was a plus point.
Luiz was an instant success under Ancelotti, scoring on his debut against Manchester United and giving an overall excellent performance for the rest of the season. He is yet to feature under Villas-Boas, having picked up an injury at the beginning of the
season.
Luiz said while speaking to reporters:
“Villas-Boas deserves to be in charge at Chelsea and I am convinced he will succeed in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749.
Every coach has a different style of work. Andre is different to Ancelotti and I am hoping for more success than last season.”
He continued:
“I had respect for Ancelotti but, of course, it is easy when the manager also speaks my language.”
Luiz, who was an unused substitute for Brazil in their clash against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ghana-c2905, could make his comeback for Chelsea over the weekend against Sunderland. The Blues travel to take on the Black Cats at the Stadium of Light on Saturday.
Luiz revealed he felt the squad had greatly improved since Villas-Boas had taken over, and believed the Blues had done well with their signings in the transfer window. Chelsea’s main signings include http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Oriol-c28659 Romeu, Juan Mata
and Raul Meireles.
The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Brazil-c2858 international felt the Blues’ last minute signing would be a huge success at the London club, having played against him previously in Portugal. The Blues have been suffering in midfield and Meireles could very well be the solution to their problems.
The Portuguese midfielder had a highly successful season at Liverpool, after he moved to the club from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Porto-c39186 for a fee of €13 million in the summer of 2010. He made a total of 44 appearances and scored 5 goals in addition to winning the 2011 PFA Fans’
Player of the Year award.
Luiz admitted:
“Every day we are getting better and I bet we will have success this season. We have made good signings and I think http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Raul-Meireles-c30678 can be a big player for us.
We played against each other in Portugal and he was difficult to stop. It is sensational he can increase our level on the pitch.”
